Synonym: 遂宁组, Suining Shale


Lithology and Thickness

Purplish red, lateritic red muddy shale with interbeds of quartzose sandstone occasionally.

Renown for its dinosaur remains.


Age 

Schematic strat column in previous "red Chinese Lexicon" implied that the Suining Fm was Tithonian. Diying Huang (2019; Jurassic integrative stratigraphy and timescale of China. Science China: Earth Sciences, v. 62) re-assigns this Suining Fm as Tithonian.
